Happy, Happy, Happy!

I'm signing off for another social media free weekend with friends and family. This weekend is my godson's second birthday, it's a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed party complete with a bounce house and lots and lots of sugar! A fun time will be had by all and I wish you all the same. To my friends heading off to New York CIty for the Stationery Show, have fun, safe travels and I will see you next year!

Here are some Friday Favorites for your weekend.
  • For my Southern friends, check out how the Canadians do a Bayou Bash. This is an adorable party and you'll really appreciate the humor on grits. I feel I'll be sending her a care package soon.
  • Need some graduation party ideas, here are six.
  • Here is a precious mustache bash party - so cute!
  • This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party is not to be missed!

Patriotic Party Ideas...It all started with hot dogs and pie bunting

It's hard to believe that this budget friendly styled photo shoot with Amelia from Her Royal Heinous was two years ago! I've seen our hot dog and pie bunting photos pinned hundreds of times, even by Pottery Barn Kids (YEAH!) and it was even featured on Pizzazzerie.

To celebrate this upcoming holiday I've rounded up a few of my favorite Memorial Day items as well as arranged for THREE options to my Patriotic Party Collection

1. Personalized printable or printed
2. Blank printable with INSTANT DOWNLOAD
3. Limited pieces for FREE on Scribd

1. USA Cookies by Not Betty Cookies 2. Patriotic Gumball Necklace by Hottie Tottie Girl
3. Wooden Utensils by Sucre Shop 4. Yankee Doodle Paper Straws from  Shop Sweet Lulu
5. American Twine by Divine Twine from Shop Sweet Lulu

I hope you and your family have a wonderful and relaxing Memorial Day holiday and remember those brave men and women who have died serving our country and protecting our freedoms.

Rope Wrapped Letter Tutorial

I created this tutorial for Everyday Baby + Child Magazine to show how I created this rope wrapped anchor. It was so much fun and such an easy project.

Materials You'll Need:
Foam board, mat board or thing craft board
X-Acto knife
Clear packing tape
Jute twine
Scissors
Optional: Hot glue gun or craft glue

Using a pen or sharpie marker draw out the shape you plan to wrap in twine. Cut the shape out with a sharp X-acto knife.

Cut small pieces of twine and using your clear tape, tape them across the edges of your letter or shape. This will help cover the ends. You may choose to tack the twine down now using a little dab of glue.

Now comes the fun part, start wrapping! Tape an edge of your twine on the back and start at one of your shape and start wrapping. Remember as you go to pull the twine tight and push it close together so you do not see the material underneath.

If you choose a letter such as the W I did you'll have to cut smaller pieces and do the pointed parts separately. Continue to use your clear tape or glue to affix the twine to the back. Keep wrapping around as you go around your shape until you've wrapped the entire piece.

Friday Favorites

I hope everyone has had a good week. I've been sooooo busy which is great but I just feel like I've been a little vacant from the social media world, my apologies. I've been busy with custom orders and helping Audrey with her lemonade stand plans. You can view my post on this and the special Lemonade Stand collection I created here. It's been so much fun working with her and crafting and painting. Tomorrow is the big day and I know we'll have a blast.

Lemonade Stand Ideas

Summer is quickly approaching and that means pool time and lemonade time! Several big businesses in Louisiana are sponsoring a wonderful event called Lemonade Day. Their goal is to "empower today's youth to become tomorrow's entrepreneurs". Audrey is signed up and it has been so much fun! We received a backpack with two workbooks, one for her and one for me, the mentor. It's been great working with her and "branding her stand" and "setting goals". It also encourages the children to save for the future and give some money to a charity as well as spend a little on themselves. I encourage you all the see if this program is available in your area and work with your children. I come from a family of entrepreneurs so it's been great to pass this down to my daughter.

I created a special collection that you can purchase through my etsy shop for a very special price of only $10. It's an instant download and it has everything you need for your child to create their own lemonade stand.

You will receive:
• 2" party circles in 4 designs
• 8" x 10" "Fresh Lemonade" sign
• 8" x 10" "Fresh Lemonade" sign with price circle
• Two 8" x 10" "Fresh Lemonade" signs with directional arrows
• Tip jar wraps in two designs
• Thank you sign
• Invitation
• 2" Thank you circles in 1 design
